38 multi step equations worksheet variables on both sides
I have found a couple of good videos involving this but I have yet to find one with an example of a whole number on the other side. (3/8x = 3) x = ?. So if you could just give me the basic rundown of how you got it that would be great. :) First, is it best practice to solve/break down the variable before the constant or the other way around? Second, why is it so common to move the variable to the left side of the equation as opposed to the right side. I notice this in almost all tutorial videos but I have not seen one video that explains why variables are almost always moved to the left side. Could someone help me understand this, please?
I'm struggling to solve the following equation. (For context, this is a convergent - divergent rocket nozzle. A* is the cross sectional area of the constriction (throat), A is the local area at any point along the nozzle, gamma (y) is a property of air, and M is the Mach number of the fluid). http://imgur.com/a/xaVrz Down the first column of cells I have 11 points along the nozzle, from -0.5m to 0.5m in increments of 0.1m. The second column is the calculated ratio of the throat (constant) to t...

Whenever I input the equation cSolve(6y-2x-9,x) I receive this error message: "First argument of solve or cSolve must be an equation or inequality. For example, solve(3x-4, x) is invalid because the first argument is not an equation." Image: [https://i.imgur.com/w78nX3L.png](https://i.imgur.com/w78nX3L.png) Any ideas? TI Nspire II CAS here. I cannot figure this out. I have a worksheet with a large number of rows, each representing 1 data point. Each data point is described by a number of measurements in the adjacent columns. For the calculation, I am only concerned with 2 columns: 1 with X coordinates and another with Y coordinates, which were derived from each data point's location in 2D space. I am using the following equation to calculate the distance between 2 data points: Distance = sqrt((Y2 - Y1) ^ 2 + (X2 - X1) ^ 2) I wan... Came across this problem and I want to understand all the step to solve it. "2 (x + 6) = -2x + 44" 2 ( x + 12) = -2+44 2x + 12 = -2x + 44 2x + 2x = 44 - 12 4x = 32 x = 32/4 = 8 My main problem in trying to solve this equation is in switching X with the other term, Why is the next step is "44 - 12" and not 44 + 12 and "2x + 2x" keeps its addition?
Multi step equations worksheet variables on both sides. How can I isolate "r" in the multi-variable equation: a\*(r\^(t-1)) - (r\^t) = s - s\*(r\^t) ? I have tried manipulating the equation all the ways that I know, but still can't seem to isolate "r". Is it even possible? If so, how can I tell from the onset whether a given variable is able to be isolated in an equation without going through all the work of trying and failing to isolate it? Title "[High School Algebra 1] ELI5 the differences between the solution being "No solution" "All real numbers" "1" and "0" for equations with variables on both sides" Thanks so much! I don't understand those four or the difference between them at all. For example, something like 10 = x^3 + x +8 Eventually I would be getting down to either 2 = x^3 + x or x^3 + x - 2 = 0 but I'm not sure where to go from there. I know if it was a square I could use the quadratic equation or factor it, but with anything more than a square it messes me up. Thanks in advance! Just curious, does anyone go after a strategy where they try to collect a net credit in premiums when entering and when exiting a trade? I've been able to do it a couple of times with well priced collars (particularly with even money collars). I would buy an OTM put at the same time and same strike as I sell an ITM call (covered since I own the underlying). I got a net credit obviously because the ITM premium I received was more than the OTM premium I paid. Then the stock would run down a bit...

I have attached a screenshot. I would ideally like to plug in the y value into the given formula, and have Excel generate the x value in the appropriate column. I have included the appropriate x value (answer) for two rows via manual calculation. However, I need to figure out how to do this in Excel. I tried solving it a few times, I used additive inverse and subtracted 9e from 9e which cancelled out and was left alone. Then I also subtracted 9e from -5e and got -14e. I was then left with +4 = 14e + 14 +13e. I subtracted 13 from 14e and 13e by using additive inverse. And -14e - 13e = -27e. I was left with 4=27e+14. I subtracted 14 again by using additive inverse from 4 and 14 and got -18 = 27e. I wasn’t sure what to do at...
2-1/2n=3n+16 Hello could someone help me with this, it may seem trival and easy, but I am trying to learn math so I can enroll into college by this Fall. Could someone explain when, subtracting 3 from the fraction gives -7/2? I am extremely confused, and have tried everything possible so far. Could someone explain to me in detail or just a little assistance in answering this basic algebra question? I am confused on when I subtract 3n from -1/2 and it turns into -7/2. I have been stuck on this question for 2 hours and hit a wall. Thanks. 2-1/2n=3n+16 Working on a sheet for 2017, which is a clone of 2016. Part of what I need to do is move all of the values from the current column to the prior year column. I wish a straight copy-paste values would do it, but alas, I'm not that lucky, it's over ~15 different sheets. I've managed to link the two sheets together, to pull the data off directly, and it works great! I'm wondering if there's a way to get the name of the sheet used as a sliding reference, so when I move the equation over from Project ... Hi. I'm doing mathematical induction at the moment in class, and I am having a lot of trouble grasping the stuff that I should already know. Namely equalities when proving inductions. I haven't done algebra for a long long time, so I don't even know what this process is called, but here is the statement I don't understand: http://i.imgur.com/TJ6uiOD.png I don't even get how it gets to the first equality of the equation. As some are probably aware this is a key part of proving with induction so...
Ok I'm homeschooled and having trouble with a problem. I've tried solving it but the computer keeps marking it as wrong. The problem is (4b -8)/3=2b. My thought process is opposite equations on both sides to solve so 2b*3=6+8=14-4=10 so b=10. Where did I mess up?
